Howdy! Fáilte!

This is the first entry on the brand new ceol.app blog. If you haven't used it already, Ceol is a new app intended to help you have more fun playing traditional Irish music. Specifically, it's here to help you learn more tunes, and be more likely to learn the tunes that the people around you play.

It has three main features you might care about:

  1. It can listen to the tune you're hearing and automatically detect what it is, with extremely high accuracy.
  2. It can track information about your local session, including which tunes were played on which nights, and which tunes are most common at your session.
  3. You can easily add any of these tunes to your personal tunebook, and track which ones you've learned or want to learn.

There's lots more than this, of course—this is just the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. You can use it all more or less identically as an iPhone app, a mobile webpage, or a desktop webpage, and it has full offline support in all three. (There's no native Android app yet, but we're working on it.)

On this blog, I'll post weekly updates about features, stories about people and sessions, and more. Grab the RSS feed, or register for a free account and turn on notifications to get it by email.

Hup!
